Advances in lipid metabolism of oocytes and early embryos
Lipid metabolism provides energy for the development and maturation of oocyte,as well as the early embryonic development.Meanwhile, the intermediate products of lipid metabolism play multiple biological roles in oocyte, such as the construction of biological membrane, cell signaling, steroid precursors and metabolisms.Oocyte may also obtain lipids and metabolic products from the follicular fluid through cumulus cells, including especially cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, free fatty acids, apolipoprotein A1 and carnitine. There are differences in the lipid metabolism and intermediate products among those people with polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity and metabolic disorders, advanced age and poor ovarian response, which is related to the poor quality of oocytes and embryos. This review discusses the lipid metabolism in oocyte meiosis and early embryonic development,so as to provide theoretical support for the individualized diagnosis and the treatment of infertile and ageing women, and also for innovating and improving in vitro culture medium.
