Current research status on the treatment of premature ovarian insufficiency with traditional Chinese and western medicine
Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)can lead to infertility in women,causing a series of perimenopausal symptoms,and is a dual physical and psychological blow to young women.Its incidence rate is increasing year by year,the age of onset tends to be younger,and there is no radical cure at present.Currently,Western medicine treatment includes sex hormone supplementation therapy,dehydroepiandrosterone therapy,immunosuppressive therapy,stem cell transplantation,gene therapy,assisted reproductive technology,and so on.Traditional Chinese medicine treatment includes acupuncture and moxibustion treatment,herbal ointment,herbal decoction,etc.The traditional Chinese medicine decoction Yijingtang has a long history,and the clinical researches have suggested its real effects on improving the reproductive function of POI patients.This article reviews the current methods of POI treatment with Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine,as well as their respective advantages and disadvantages,in order to provide reference for clinical treatment of POI and provide theoretical basis for further research on the treatment of POI.
