Research progress of brain derived neurotrophic factor and neurotrophin 5 in female reproductive endocrine system
Brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and neurotrophin-5(NT-5),which act on the same receptors-TrkB and p75NTR,are members of neurotrophin family and a kind of secretory polypeptides which are secreted by the target tissue innervated by nerves.BDNF and NT-5 are widely expressed in the ovary and play important roles in multiple reproductive physiological activities, such as follicular assembly and development, oocyte maturation, ovulation and steroidogenesis in granulosa and theca cells.Infertility is a reproductive disorder caused by multiple etiology.Among infertile patients, there is an abnormal secretion of BDNF and NT-5 in the ovary. Therefore, understanding the research progress of BDNF and NT-5 in female reproductive endocrine system may provide new directions for the treatment of infertility and new indicators for predicting pregnancy outcomes of assisted reproduction.
