Advanced optimization strategies of mesenchymal stem cells-based treatment of primary ovarian insufficiency
Primary Ovarian Insufficiency(POI)is the decline or loss of ovarian function that occurs before the age of 40,which seriously affects woman's physical and mental health as well as their reproductive function. And clinically, there is no known cure.Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),which come from a wide range of sources and have the ability to regenerate, proliferate and repair damaged tissues, have a broad prospect in POI treatment. However, the application of MSCs still faces difficulties, such as low survival rate in vivo, impaired paracrine and differentiation abilities, limitations in packaging and transportation of living cells, and tumorigenic or immune-induced reactions in clinical applications. Therefore,it has become a hot research topic to explore strategies for the optimization of MSCs treatments. In this paper,we summarize the current research progress of MSCs for POI,and review the optimization strategies for MSCs-based treatment of POI in recent years, with a view to further providing a reference basis for the treatment of POI.
