Research progress of exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells on the pathogenesis and progression of PCOS
PCOS is a multifactorial metabolic and most common endocrine disorder and its prevalence varies from 10% to 20%.Chronic low-grade inflammation and irregular apoptosis of granulosa cells play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of PCOS associated infertility.Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)-derived exosomes are lipid bilayer complexes that act as a means of intercellular transferring of proteins, lipids,DNA and different types of RNAs,ranging from 30 to 150 nm in size. And they have some effects on PCOS,such as regulating immunity response,anti-inflammatory and suppress apoptosis of granulosa cells.Although there are many studies demonstrating the effects of exosomes on the pathogenesis and progression of PCOS,their exact mechanisms are still unknown. In the present study,we will review the potential effects of MSC-derived exosomes on the treatment of PCOS in order to provide theoretical basis for subsequent research on cell-free therapy for PCOS.
