Progress in the study of evaluating embryonic development potential
Embryonic development potential will be related to the selection of single embryo transfer in assisted reproduction outcome and the final clinical pregnancy result.Because of its advantages of simplicity,convenience,low-priced,high stability and great efficiency, the morphological evaluation has become the most widely used method to evaluate embryonic development potential in assisted reproductive laboratory. The birth and rise of time-lapse(TL)technology provides a means for assisted reproductive laboratory to record the dynamic complete process of embryonic development in real time.Metabolomics study provides an accurate physiologically assessment of embryonic development potential by detecting metabolites such as glucose, amino acids,NAD(P)H and FAD+.The application of preimplantation genetic testing(PGT)tests embryos for severe genetic diseases or chromosomal abnormalities(aneuploidy). This article reviews the progress of the above four methods for evaluating embryonic development potential.
