Metrnl is a novel adipokine,which is highly expressed in white adipose tissue.It plays an important role in nerve nutrition,improving insulin resistance,stimulating white adipose tissue browning and immune inflammation.Metrnl is involved in remodeling adipose tissue structure,improving the adipocyte function,inhibiting adipose tissue and skeletal muscle inflammation,regulating lipid metabolism,and regulating inflammatory factors and so on.PCOS is the most common reproductive endocrine metabolic disease in women of childbearing age.It is characterized by thin ovulation or anovulation,hyperandrogenemia or hirsutism,acne and polycystic ovary changes,with an incidence of about 5％-10％.The pathologenesis of PCOS is still unclear.Obesity,hyperandrogenemia and hyperinsulinemia interact with each other and play an important role in the occurrence and development of PCOS.In this paper,the structure and function of Metrnl and its research progress in PCOS are reviewed.
