Research progress on the correlation between homocysteine serum level and metabolism and pregnancy in polycystic ovary syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is one of the most common gynecological endocrine diseases. It is clinically characterized by elevated hormone levels, persistent oligoovulation or anovulation, and polycystic ovarian changes, often accompanied by insulin resistance and obesity.Recent studies have found a strong correlation between the pathogenesis of patients with PCOS and elevated homocysteine serum levels. The elevated serum level of homocysteine increases the risks of insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension, hyperandrogenism, decreased ovulation and abortion in patients with PCOS,and is a potential risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with PCOS.This article reviews recent studies on the relationship between PCOS and homocysteine, providing new ideas for the study of homocysteine in PCOS.
