Exploring embryonic dynamics parameters related to the formation of available and high-quality blastocysts
Objective:To explore the development parameters of cleavage embryos related to the formation of available and high-quality blastocysts by using time-lapse imaging technology. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the development and blastocyst culture of 344 embryos in 76 infertile couples who underwent conventional IVF treatment in Huizhou Second Maternity &Child H ealthcare Hospital during September 2022 to September 2023.The time-lapse imaging culture system was used to collect and record the cleavage pattern of embryos, the multi-nucleation at 2-cell stage, the cleavage time of 2-,3-,4-,and 5-cell stage,as well as the blastocyst culture results of each embryo. The univariate and multivariate logistic analyses were used to evaluate the relationship between embryo cleavage pattern, time parameters, and the formation of available and high-quality blastocyst. The regression curves were drawn for the correlation between the length of the second(T3-2),third(T4-3),forth(T5-4)cell cycle and the rates of available and high-quality blastocyst. Results:The univariate analysis showed that abnormal cleavage patterns,multi-nucleation at 2-cell stage, and the delay of different cleavage time had significant influences on the formation of available and high-quality blastocyst. The multivariate logistic analysis found that cleavage patterns(OR=10.324,P<0.001)as well as T3-2(OR=1.781,P<0.001)and T4-3(OR=1.492,P=0.029)were associated with the formation of available blastocysts. And cleavage patterns(OR=6.546,P=0.001),T4-3(OR=1.581,P=0.006),T5-4(OR=1.173,P=0.001)had impact on the formation of high-quality blastocysts. Conclusions:Abnormal cleavage pattern,as well as embryos outside the dominant time of T3-2,T4-3,and T5-4,could result in a decreased rate in the formation of available and high-quality blastocysts.
