Research progress of m6A modification on ovarian function
N6-methyladenosine(m6 A)is the most common RNA modification in eukaryotic cells, and involved in diverse physiological processes by regulating RNA metabolism, selective splicing, degradation, and translation. It becomes a key regulator of RNA fate and plays an irreplaceable role in cellular activities. The m6 A modification is coordinately regulated by methyltransferases"writers"and demethylases"erasers"and produces variable effects via"readers".Accumulating evidences have showed that m6A modifications play an important role in regulating female ovarian functions, such as ovulatory and hormone secretion. Therefore, this paper provides a review of research progress on the role of m6 A methylation modification in regulating ovarian function and related mechanisms of action in recent years.
