Research progress on the mechanism of Nrf2 signaling pathway regulating ovarian aging through antioxidant stress
Ovaries,as crucial reproductive and endocrine organs in women, play a significant role in fertility and hormone production.Their aging leads to menopause and a decline in reproductive capacity.Increasing researches indicate that oxidative stress significantly impacts ovarian aging.Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)signaling pathway plays a key regulatory role in the antioxidant stress response.Nrf2,a pivotal transcription factor, can activate the expression of various antioxidant enzymes, resulting in the protection of the ovaries from oxidative damage and thus delaying ovarian aging. This article reviews the protective role of the Nrf2 signaling pathway against ovarian aging and its regulatory mechanisms in the antioxidant stress response, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for clinical antioxidative treatments to delay ovarian aging.
