Calcite loaded copper antibacterial agent was prepared by liquid phase method using calcite and anhydrous copper sulphate as raw materials. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Zeta potential and nanoparticle size analyzer. The results of XRD and XPS show that the crystal structure of the samples was consistent with that of calcite, and some copper elements were loaded into calcite and existed in a divalent ionic state. The antibacterial properties of the calcite loaded copper antimicrobial agent were tested using the oscillation method. The results showed that the antibacterial performance of the calcite loaded copper antimicrobial agent was greater than 99.9%against both E.coli and S.aureus strains, with a Minimum Bactericidal Concentration(MBC)of 0.8 g/L.The excellent antibacterial performance of the samples was attributed to the positively charged surface of the copper loaded samples, which reacted with the negatively charged bacteria through an electrostatic effect to achieve the bactericidal effect. The calcite loaded copper antimicrobial agent was calcined at 1100℃and still had a strong antibacterial effect. The antimicrobial ceramics prepared by adding it to the ceramic glaze had an antibacterial rate of>99%against both strains of E.coli and S.aureus.This paper provides a new idea and theoretical basis for the industrialization of antibacterial ceramics.
