The Yangtze River Economic Belt covers provinces and municipalities such as Chongqing,Hubei and Shanghai from the upper,middle to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.An integrated transportation system composed of various transportation modes such as railway,highway,and waterway,is serving the development of the regional economy and society.This paper first elabo-rates the network structure and current freight volume of the integrated transportation system of railway,highway,and waterway in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.It is found that there are challenges such as limited capacity of corridors,unreasonable transportation structure,incomplete multimodal transportation system,and shortage of capacity on some railway lines,which indicates that the rail-way's advantages of large capacity and low emissions have not been fully played.On this basis,development strategies for the railway freight transportation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are proposed,including upgrading the bottleneck sections of the corridor,pro-moting the development of railway multimodal transportation,strengthening the allocation of railway transportation resources,actively seeking national policy support,and providing research basis for promoting the construction of an integrated transportation system in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
