Causes Analysis and Countermeasures of Fracture of Forging Wing Rail for Turnouts with Speed Below 200 km/h
The wing rails of movable point rail turnouts with a speed below 200 km/h are forged by forging method. With the extension of application time, there have been multiple incidents of forging wing rail fracture on the railway. In order to explore the reasons for the fracture of forging wing rails, this article analyzed the structural design, manufacturing process, operation and maintenance, and climate from the aspects of metallographic structure inspection and finite element theory calculation.Preliminary judgment shows that the main reason for the fracture is the outdated forging and heating process of the wing rail,long-term exposure to complex loads, and poor operating conditions. The secondary reasons are structural design defects, unreasonable blunting of the rail bottom angle, and significant temperature changes. To eliminate the risk of fracture of forging wing rails in use,a renovation and replacement plan as well as daily maintenance and repair measures have been proposed.
