Study on the Calculation Method of Thrust Force for Three-Circular-Ring Interlocking Pipe-Jacking
The thrust force is a crucial parameter in the construction of pipe-jacking projects, the design of reaction walls, and the selection of pipe-jacking machinery. This study draws on the pipe-curtain section of the Sanya River Mouth Channel project and employs the Persson contact model to investigate the thrust force associated with the three-circular-ring interlocking pipe-jacking,considering the influence of soil-pipe contact on the thrust force calculation formula.Additionally, the study examines the correlation between the thrust force and the extent of pipe interlocking. The findings are further validated through a comparison with actual on-site measurement data. The study reveals that the combined contact pressure for the three-circular-ring interlocking pipe-jacking varies from 1.34 G to 4.04 G,depending on the level of interlocking. For the Sanya River Mouth Channel project, the estimated thrust force necessary for the three-circular-ring interlocking pipe-jacking is between 7 416.6 kN and 8 781.6 kN.When compared with on-site measurements, the formula-derived thrust force is determined to be 1.38 times the maximum measured value on-site,indicating a certain safety reserve and potential cost savings. These findings provide valuable insights for the design and execution of similar engineering projects in the future.
