Study on the Influence of Pit-in-Pit Excavation on Deformation Characteristics of Irregular-Shaped Deep Foundation Pits
This study, based on the underground space engineering project in the southern new town of Nanjing, utilized Plaxis 3D software to simulate the impact of the pit-in-pit excavation depth ratio on the deformation characteristics of irregular-shaped deep foundations.By comparing numerical simulation results with actual measurement data,it was found that the overall trends of surface settlement curve around the foundation pit is highly consistent with the deep horizontal displacement curve of the retaining structure, thus verifying the reliability of the numerical model. The findings indicate that the depth ratio significantly influences the deformation of the foundation pit.As the depth ratio increases, the deformation of the irregular deep foundation pit also increases. The reason for this is that the lateral soil stress of the pit-in-pit excavation is released, resulting in a decrease in the dynamic earth pressure on the retaining structure. The application point of resultant force of passive earth pressure decreases, resulting in increased deformation of the foundation pit.
