Analysis of the Overall Instability Mechanism of a National Highway Slope in Northern Guangdong and Optimization of Treatment Measures
Taking the left roadside slope of the G323 National Highway in Northern Guangdong, from Ruyuan Shangwei to Shaping section(K455+955 to K456+110)as an example, this study analyzed the mechanism of deformation and instability under the original engineering measures. The main reasons for the failure of the original scheme were summarized as:too steep slope, poor geotechnical properties, excessive rainfall intensity, and insufficient support strength.Numerical simulation methods were used to reproduce the entire process of deformation and instability, and the subsequent development trend of the slope was predicted in the absence of timely remediation. In response to the four major factors leading to the failure of the original remediation plan, four corresponding remediation measures were proposed:slope reduction and excavation, anchoring, drainage interception, and toe protection, which were then implemented on-site.The subsequent regular inspection results indicated that the remediation plan was effective.
