The Generation Mechanism and Value Changes of the Northern Shaanxi Revolutionary Base as a Culture Symbol in the Films of New China
In the narrative discourse of China's revolutionary history told in the films of New China,Yan'an and the Northern Shaanxi Revolutionary Base are not only the Holy Land of Chinese Revolution, but also a culture symbol that transcends its geo-graphical and historical significance. Its connotations as a cultural symbol have undergone three stages of evolution:an idyllic pre-revolutionary history,a spiritual home for emotions, and a holy place of faith amidst the war.Investigating the generating mecha-nism and value changes of this culture symbol plays an important role for the comprehension of movies'role as a national ideolog-ical carrier. It can also shed some light on contemporary Chinese movies as for how to construct and narrate the Chinese national ideology and socialist core values in the new era.
