In the middle and late Tang Dynasty,the Yue kiln produced exquisite celadon wares that were different from before,known as"mystery color porcelain".However,when didthe"mystery color porcelain"become famous?What does the"mystery color"refer to in essence?There has been no unified answers to these questions in the field of history.Based on ancient literature records and combined with archaeological findings from recent times,the fame of"mystery color porcelain"from Yue kiln actually went through a process from its inception to maturity.The name"mystery color porcelain"first appeared in the late middle Tang Dynasty,but it was not widely accepted until the Northern Song Dynasty.Originated from the imperial palace,the name was spread to society through literati and officials.However,no physical remains of"secret color porcelain"have been found at any of the kiln sites.The essence of"mystery color"refers to the glaze color of celadon on the surface of the ceramics.
