Qingmenpingshe was an important poetry society in Xi'an during the late Qing Dynasty,and yet has not yet been comprehensively analyzed by researchers.Through examination of local records and collections of the society members,the existence of Qingmenpingshe has been determined to be from 1858 to 1898.The founder of the society was Tan Lin,and there were 33 confirmed members,mainly local officials.The society engaged in various activities,including poetic recitations,riverbank rituals,sightseeing of historical sites,and compilation of ancient books.Its main achievements were in poetry,calligraphy and painting,studies of ancient inscriptions on bronze and stones,and the organization of ancient books.The society had a significant influence on the cultural circle of Shaanxi in the late Qing Dynasty and laid the foundation for the establishment of Xijing Inscription,Calligraphy and Painting Society in the Republican era.
