The Study of Confucian People-based Thought from the Perspective of the "Second Combination"
The report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC points out the needs of two combinations,that is,combining"the basic principles of Marxism with the practical situation of China"and"with the excellent traditional Chinese culture".Being an important part of the excellent traditional Chinese culture,the people-based thought of Confucianism has always been emphasized by feudal emperors,officials and Confucian scholars because of its meeting the needs of reality.In contemporary society,although this traditional people-based thought no longer possesses the necessary conditions and soil of its existence and development,it can still be combined with Marxist theory—the"second combination"—so as to advance the progress of the Marxist democratic theory and practice.From the traditional Confucian people-based thought to the Marxist concept of democracy,as the democratic connotations of"people-oriented,people as the masters,and serving the people"gradually become clearer,a profound historical transformation has occurred in the position of the people from being servants to being masters.Exploring the value of traditional Chinese culture in contemporary times and establishing the connotation of Marxist democracy not only contribute to the political and cultural development of the world but also help China gain more discourse power internationally.
