Constructing"Chineseness":The Principles of Political Science Based on Historical Politics
Historical political science represents a methodology that embodies"Chineseness."Only with its own methodology can a social science establish an autonomous knowledge system.The political science principles composed of methodology and fundamental concepts are the most representative of a systematic knowledge system.With the advent of historical political science,the meta theories of political science,such as the concept of politics,functions of politics,state theories,party theories,government theories,cadre sys-tem theories,democracy theories,and modernization theories,have been"rearticulated"so as to interpreted differently,thus forming the"new principles of political science".The two major characteristics of the new principles of political science are the"Chineseness"constructed by historical political science,and the fact that the theory of"Chineseness"is not closed but a product of seeking comparative historical research based on concern for reality.Therefore,the new principles of political science form a political science knowledge sys-tem that starts from"comparison"and centers on contemporary China.
