The Historical Formation of the Chinese Expression of"Dang de Lingdao(Party Leadership)"
In 1920,the Second Congress of the Communist International passed a resolution on the role of the proletarian party, which highly emphasized the leading role of the Communist Party in the proletarian revo-lution.When the Tenth Congress of the Russian Communist Party(Bolsheviks)was held in 1921,Qu Qiubai immediately wrote a series of relevant newsletters for the Beijing Morning Post.Through his writings, the con-cept and institution of Party leadership were introduced to the Chinese public for the first time. After the foun-ding of the Communist Party of China(CPC),it soon accepted the basic political principle of Leninism advo-cated by the Comintern. The formation of the Chinese expression of"Party leadership"has gone through a process. In the first half of the 1920s,led by Communists such as Li Da,Cai Hesen, and Qu Qiubai, the Chi-nese word"lingdao",i.e.leadership,gradually became an important revolutionary political vocabulary.By the time of the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1925,the term"lingdao"had frequently appeared in the resolutions of the congress. However,it was still more customary to associate the leadership of the party with the term"zhidao",i.e.guidance,in the official party documents until the Sixth National Congress of the CPC.Before and after the Second Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee of the CPC in 1929,the political expression of"dang de lingdao",i.e.Party leadership, gradually become fixed within the party.
