India's African Policy:Perspectives from the"Global South"
The collective rise of the"Global South"is a distinct hallmark of major global changes.Strengthening research on countries within the"Global South"and promoting the development of the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction is a timely task as-signed to country and region studies.In the studies regarding South-South coopera-tion,India's Africa policy holds particular value.On one hand,analyzing India's Africa policy can provide insights bene-ficial for adjusting our own strategy towards cooperation with Africa.On the other hand,clarifying India's Africa policy is crucial for maintaining healthy Sino-Indian relations under the framework of South-South cooperation.India's interactions with African nations have a long history,with varying degrees of cooperation maintained by suc-cessive Indian govern-ments.Since Narendra Modi has come into power,India-Africa relations have been further strengthened,with significant cooperative advancements achieved in military,maritime,energy,and other emerging sectors.India's Africa policy still faces existing challenges and potential risks,but the current trend suggests that India will persist in advancing its coopera-tion with Africa.China should handle its relations with India appropriately in its cooperation with Africa,aiming to col-laboratively forge a new vista of South-South cooperation and usher in a new era for the"Global South".
