In order to optimization of transportation service level,a quantification method based on generalized cost func-tion and Monte Carlo sampling for the radiation range of railway stations and railway dominant transportation distance is proposed.The generalized cost function of road and railway container transportation is built.Then,the radiation range of railway stations and railway dominant transportation distance is determined.And through sensitivity analysis to explore the influence of each component of railway transportation cost on the ra-diation range of railway stations,the dominant transportation distance of railway and its market share rate.The results show that when the dominant transport distance of railway transport is 300 km,and the radiation range of railway station is 10~15 km,the railway container transport has a competitive advantage over the road trans-port.
