Application of Blind Flange Misalignment Docking Device in Installation of Riser on Offshore Platform
During the installation of risers on offshore platforms,it is inevitable that there will be a certain amount of misalignment between the support flanges of the risers and the pile leg side flanges.Traditional bolted connections can cause significant stress and damage to the risers, resulting in high construction risks. After extensive design improvement and multiple land tests,a blind flange misalignment docking device has been designed, which uses U-shaped gussets instead of bolts to limit the anisotropic freedom of the blind flange. The installation position can be adjusted with the misalignment of the blind flange, and then the misalignment of each supporting blind flange on the riser is compensated, achieving stress free docking of the riser. This paper introduces the successful application of the blind flange misalignment docking device in the installation and construction of risers on a platform, which can provide experience and reference for similar engineering construction operations.
