Study on Shallow Water Effect and Its Influence on Safety of Soft Yoke Single-point Mooring FPSO
As important structures for offshore oil and gas development, ensuring the structural strength and integrity of FPSOs is crucial for carrying out crude oil transportation work in severe environmental conditions.Based on potential flow theory, frequency domain analysis was conducted on the target FPSO to investigate the influence of shallow water effects on the hydrodynamic characteristics of FPSO and explore the changes of the natural period and response amplitude operator in different water depths. Results show that when the FPSO operates in shallow water, the natural periods of FPSO heave, roll, and pitch all increase. When the FPSO has the same draft in different water depths, except for heave and pitch, the motions of FPSO in other degrees of freedom decrease with the increase of the ratio of water depth to draft.
