Four Thoughts about Civilization:Ontology,Comparison,Interaction, and Mutual Learning
As a historical and cultural unit, the basic nature of civilization is"complex social organization".Research on civilizations and the relationships between civilizations can be conducted from multiple dimen-sions such as ontology, comparison, interaction, and mutual learning.Civilization itself has a complete set of core values and behavior systems, which can be called the ontology of civilization. It is the soul and identity symbol of civilization.Precisely because civilizations have their own characteristics and have diverse civiliza-tion models and development paths, civilizations should be compared, including overall macro comparisons and thematic micro comparisons.Interaction between civilizations is spontaneous behavior depend on vari-ous subjective and objective conditions. There are also differences in the intensity of the intervention of two simultaneous civilizations, and in the degree of the influence of the interaction on both parties(the influence of the earlier civilization on the later civilization is one-way).Most of interaction promote social develop-ment in a positive way,but there are also counter-examples which is forced interaction causes damage,or lack of interaction causes development to lag.Mutual learning among civilizations is a high-level interaction that is conscious and proactive. The behavior of mutual learning is the product of spiritual understanding, and the content of mutual learning is mostly at the material and institutional level.Blind imitation regard-less of one's own conditions is difficult to succeed.
