交谈与成人:欧克肖特论大学自由教育

英国政治思想家欧克肖特以哲学的眼光审视教育问题,对大学自由教育提出了独到的见解。他认为教育是师生进行交谈的活动和个体学会成人的过程,自由教育在成人与交谈中发生。大学虽然是自由教育的理想场所,却面临着外界带来的发展困境,导致大学的自由教育精神逐渐衰微。为此,欧克肖特提出了大学应保障学生享有闲暇时间、开展师生间友好的交谈、重视学生形成自我理解、回归自由教育的本真等主张。
Conversation and Learning to be Human:Oakeshott on Liberal Education of University
Oakeshott is a British political thinker who considers education from a philosophi-cal perspective and puts forward unique insights about liberal education of university.He believes that education is an activity in which teachers and students have conversations and a process in which an individual learns to be a human.The university is the ideal place for liberal education but facing the development predicament brought by the world.The spirit of liberal education of u-niversity is gradually declining.Therefore,Oakeshott advocates that universities should guarantee students'interval,carry out friendly conversations between teachers and students,prioritize to students'self-understanding,and return to the essence of liberal education.
