The Influence of External Factors on Foreign Language Learning Boredom in 12th Graders'Online Classes
To improve 12th graders'learning experience and effects and to better understand and support their mental health needs, based on the control-value theory, this study examines 12th grade online learners'general level of foreign language learning boredom(FLLB)and inves-tigates how it is affected by external factors in the context of online teaching.A questionnaire an-swered by 461 senior high school students and individual interviews with some of them show that the learners are moderately bored in online English classes(M =2.93).The result of the struc-tural equation model indicates that external factors such as students'hardware equipment,teach-ing activity design, and teacher-student relationship affect learners'FLLB through different paths and with different levels of intensity. The study finds that the intensity of the effects of external factors on FLLB in online classes can be expressed as:Equipment factors>Instructional factors>Interpersonal factors. It is advised that schools and parents take corresponding measures to active-ly intervene in students'FLLB in the online teaching context.
