Research on"Graphing Stories"in WISE as A Digital Teaching Resource of Science for Middle School
Science curriculum should pay attention to the graphical teaching, and actively develop relevant digital teaching resources. This study finds that the"Graphic Stories"project in WISE(web-based scientific exploration environment),using Knowledge Integration theory to design digital teaching resources, can effectively promote eighth grade students' understanding of motion graphs and improve their knowledge integration level, with a gain effect exceeding moder-ate size. The exploration process in this project is designed based on the theory of Knowledge In-tegration that promotes students to actively construct new knowledge. It creates scientific story-lines that inspire students to learn in real-life explorative contexts.A sequence of digital re-sources is designed based on the learning objectives to ensure consistency between technical ob-jectives and exploratory learning objectives.Digital cognitive tools are designed for learning ob-stacles to overcome the difficulties of conventional inquiry teaching. It uses virtual animation to build a framework for expression and reflection, helping students explore independently. This study provides specific guidelines for effectively developing exploratory digital teaching resources in middle school science curriculum, and also provides examples of digital teaching resources for graphical teaching in science curriculum.
