The Influence of Interpersonal Relationship on Learning Engagement of Adolescents:the Mediating Effect of Psychological Capital
Interpersonal relationship plays an important role in individual development. To explore the pure impact of different types of interpersonal relationships on learning engagement of junior high school students and the role of psychological capital in it,the questionnaire survey was conducted among 776 students in grades 7-9 of three junior high schools in a city of Guang-dong Province, and SmartPLS4.0 software was used to construct a mediating effect model. The results show that parent-child relationship, peer relationship and teacher-student relationship have a significant direct impact on learning engagement of junior high school students;and psy-chological capital has a significant mediating effect between three kinds of interpersonal relation-ship and learning engagement.Parent-child relationship has the greatest impact on the develop-ment of individual psychological resources;the teacher-student relationship has the strongest im-pact on academic performance.Peer relationship makes the most comprehensive(direct and in-direct)contribution to junior high school students' academic performance. This shows that the family's role in individual development is weakened while the influence of factors outside the fam-ily on individual development is enhancing in the junior high school stage.Individuals can use various factors of home and school to promote their development and get rid of dependence on family. It is suggested to deepen home-school cooperation and play a synergistic role of three interpersonal relationships;pay attention to the accumulation of positive psychologi-cal resources and enhance the psychological capital of junior high school students.
