Internationalization of Higher Education in Post-Brexit Britain:Regional Imbalance,Global Trends and Insights
The political decision of Brexit has ushered in a post-Brexit era in the UK,po-sing significant challenges to the internationalization of higher education in the country.By analy-zing quantitatively the regional imbalances and global development trends faced in the areas of re-search cooperation, student mobility, and faculty mobility, after Brexit, the EU has significantly reduced the UK's access to research funding and participation shares, hindered regional mobility of students and faculty between the UK and EU countries, weakened the UK's central position in European research cooperation networks, leading to a shift towards non-EU countries in its inter-national education strategy.Globally,non-EU countries, led by China, have become important partners in the UK's research field, with a rapid increase in international students and faculty flowing into the UK from these countries, addressing the regional imbalances in acedemic mobility between the UK and EU countries and reshaping the pattern of internationalization in UK higher education. This holds significant reference value for China's strategic planning,policy-making,research cooperation, and academic mobility in the internationalization of higher education.
