Evolution,Characteristics, and Enlightenment of the Teaching Quality Assurance System in British Universities
After years of development and evolution, the teaching quality assurance system in the UK has transitioned from traditional university autonomy to a more systematic, diversified, and student-centered quality assurance system. In this system, the government, universities, independent evaluation agencies, industry associations, and news media each play their respective roles and contribute their abilities, gradually forming a basic structure with university autonomy as the mainstay and external evaluation agencies as a supplement. This system is characterized by balance, diversity, independence and transparency.Based on the current situation of higher education in China, some enlightenment and suggestions are proposed, including establishing the centrality of students, emphasizing the professional development of teachers, adopting diversified evaluation methods, introducing external quality assessments, and increasing information transparency,in order to improve the teaching quality and international competitiveness of Chinese universities.
