Academic Integration with Skills:Practices and nlightenment of British Universities in Higher Apprenticeships
The development of vocational education at the undergraduate level and above is essential for constructing a modern vocational education system and enhancing China's comprehensive competitiveness.The contradiction between the academic inclination formed by tradition and the pursuit of skills inherent in vocational education is a key factor affecting the active participation of undergraduate institutions in the cultivation of high-level skilled talents.By examining the origins,foundations,and specific implementation of British universities'involvement in higher apprenticeships,this study explores the necessity,possibility,and pathways for academia to integrate with skills.It also provides strategies for Chinese universities to participate in higher apprenticeships,which include:government top-level design as a prerequisite,multi-party participation as the foundation,favorable enrollment and employment as the driving force,and university reform as the safeguard.
