This paper investigates industry needs of emergency language services(ELS)in our country,encompassing government,enterprises,and social organizations,etc..According to the survey results,there are six types of needs for ELS in the in-dustry:the specialized deployment of ELS personnel;the acquisition of emergency service capabilities in Mandarin and English;the inclusion of ELS in the formulation of emergency response plans;the provision of training for ELS;the enhancement of capabilities in ELS;the diversification of methods to improve the industry's ELS ca-pabilities.These demands indicate that throughout the entire emergency management process,enhancing ELS is crucial to provide timely and effective language support during emergencies.However,currently,the industry confronts challenges including a limited talent pool of ELS personnel,a lack of service practice experience,a relatively narrow range of service languages,and insufficient attention to language services within emergency plans.In response,it is necessary to establish a talent pool for industry ELS,enhance practical training and case analysis of ELS,expand the cover-age of ELS,and refine the planning for ELS within emergency plans,thereby provid-ing support for the comprehensive advancement of modernization in China's emergen-cy management system and capacity.
