Application of CAR-based Cellular Immunotherapy in Autoimmune Diseases
Autoimmune diseases are a class of diseases caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking normal healthy tissuesand cells. The main pathogenesis is autoreactive B cells that produce autoantibodies, and Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)-based cellular immunotherapy can deplete B cells or inhibit autoreactive T cells.CAR-T cells can achieve non-specific B cell depletion by targeting CD19/BCMA.Chimeric autoantibody receptor(CAAR)-T selectively kills immune cells carrying spe-cific autoantibodies without damaging normal B cells.CAR-Treg inhibits autoreactive T cells by regulating their tolerance and suppressing the immune response.CAAR-NK and CAR-NK further improve safety and accessibility, and broaden the source of immune cells while avoiding immune rejection. The advances in the application of CAR-based cellular immunotherapy in the treatment of autoimmune diseases will be explored in this article.
