Observation on the effect of Shenqi Fuzheng injection as an adjuvant treatment for cancer related fatigue patients after chemotherapy for gastric cancer
Objective:To explore the efficacy of Shenqi Fuzheng Injection as an adjuvant therapy for patients with cancer-related fatigue(CRF)after chemotherapy for gastric cancer and its impact on immune function and quality of life.Methods:110 patients with CRF after chemotherapy for gastric cancer were selected from our hospital from March 2021 to October 2022,and were divided into 55 cases in the observation group and 55 cases in the control group according to the method of randomized table. In the control group,10 mg mannan peptide was injected intravenously once per day.In the observation group, patients received intravenous infusion of 250 ml/time of Shenqi Fuzheng injection based on the control group, once a day.The treatment cycle in both groups lasted for 4 weeks.Piper Fatigue Scale-Revised(PFS-R),Brief Fatigue Inventory(BFI),and Kolcaba Comfort Scale(GCQ)scores, immune function, tumor markers, and the European Collaborative Group on Quality-of-Life Cancer Score(QLQ-C30)before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:There were no significant differences in the cognitive, sensory, emotional, behavioral, and overall fatigue scores between the two groups of CRF patients before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the cognitive, sensory, emotional, behavioral, and total scores of CRF patients in both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and these indices were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the BFI and GCQ scores between the two groups of patients with CRF before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the BFI scores of CRF patients in both groups were lower before treatment, while the GCQ scores were higher than those before treatment(P<0.05).The BFI scores of CRF patients in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the GCQ scores were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+ levels between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+ in CRF patients in both groups were higher than those before treatment(P<0.05),and these indices were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in CEA and CA-724 levels between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of CEA and CA-724 in both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and these two indices were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the physical function, role function, social function, cognitive function, and emotional function scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the physical function, role function, social function, cognitive function, and emotional function scores of CRF patients in both groups were higher than before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of these functions were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The therapeutic effect of Shenqi Fuzheng Injection in the adjuvant treatment of patients with CRF after chemotherapy for gastric cancer is remarkable, which can significantly improve the fatigue symptoms, significantly improve the immune function, and significantly improve the quality of survival of patients.
