Effect of acupoint application assisted by shortwave ultraviolet therapy on acute suppurative tonsillitis in children
Objective:This study aimedto explore the therapeutic effects of acupoint application assisted by shortwave ultraviolet radiation in children with acute suppurative tonsillitis. Methods:A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted.Ninety children with acute suppurative tonsillitis admitted to our hospital between January 2022 and August 2023 were selected as research subjects. The children were divided into three groups, with 30 cases in each group, using the random number table method.Group A was intravenously injected with 30 mg/kg amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium three times a day at an interval of 8 h.Group B was treated with shortwave ultraviolet radiation based on group A treatment, with an irradiation time of 15~18 seconds once a day.Group C was treated with acupoint application assisted by"Fudi Chouxin Powder"on the basis of group B,with an application time of 4~6 hours once a day.The treatment duration for all three groups was one week. The clinical efficacy, symptom improvement, and serum indicators[C-reactive protein(CRP)and white blood cell(WBC)]of the three groups were compared, and the occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment in the three groups was statistically analyzed. Results:The total effective rates in groups A to C were 70.00%,80.00%,and 100.00%,respectively.The differences among the three groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).The fever subsidence time, disappearance time of purulent secretions from tonsils, and hospitalization time in group C were significantly shorter than those in groups A and B,and those in group B were significantly shorter than those in group A(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in serum CRP and WBC levels among the three groups before treatment(P>0.05).The serum CRP and WBC levels in the three groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The serum CRP and WBC levels in group C were significantly lower than those in groups A and B,and those in group B were significantly lower than those in group A(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups during treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:Acupoint application assisted by shortwave ultraviolet radiation has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of acute suppurative tonsillitis in children, and can effectively promote the improvement of clinical symptoms and reduce inflammatory reactions with good safety.
