The effect of Taohong Siwu decoction on postoperative fracture healing limb swelling, and functional recovery in patients with intertrochanteric fractures of femur
Objective:To explore the influence of modified Taohong Siwu decoction on postoperative fracture healing, swelling of the affected limb, and functional recovery of patients with intertrochanteric fracture of the femur(IFF).Methods:96 IFF patients admitted to our hospital between June 2021 and January 2023 were divided into two groups, with 48 patients in each group according to the random number table method. Both the groups underwent PFNA treatment. The observation group was treated with modified Taohong Siwu decoction on the second day after surgery and was administered continuously for 14 days.Hip joint function, fracture healing, swelling of the affected limb, hemorheological indexes, levels of inflammatory factors, and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:The excellent rate of hip joint function in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the time for fracture healing and swelling resolution of the affected limb was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the levels of hemorheological indicators and inflammatory factors between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of hemorheological indicators and inflammatory factors in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Modified Taohong Siwu decoction can promote postoperative fracture healing and swelling subsidence of the affected limb in IFF patients, accelerate functional recovery, and is worthy of promotion.
