Research progress on the protective mechanism of puerarin against spinal cord injury
Spinal cord injury is one of the most serious diseases of the central nervous system, leading to neurological dysfunction below the injury level.Without proper treatment,it can result in severe complications and lasting sequelae.Currently, treatments for spinal cord injury have certain limitations and adverse effects, and a standardized approach is lacking. In recent years, puerarin has attracted significant attention from researchers for its potential in treating central nervous system diseases due to its anti-inflammatory,anti-apoptotic,and antioxidant properties. This paper provides a comprehensive review of relevant research findings, exploring the protective mechanisms of puerarin in spinal cord injury from multiple aspects, including the inhibition of inflammatory responses, apoptosis, oxidative stress, spinal cord ischemia, and glial cell regulation. The aim is to offer insights and references for the future clinical application of puerarin in the treatment of spinal cord injuries.
