Application of PowerPICC catheter whole-process cluster nursing management in neurosurgery intensive care unit
Objective To investigate the application effect of PowerPICC catheter whole-process cluster nursing management in neurosurgery intensive care unit. Methods To select 120 inpatients in the neurosurgery intensive care unit admitted to the hospital from August 2021 to November 2022 was as the research subjects, the patients were divided into a control group of 65 cases and an observation group of 55 cases based on the principle of comparability of basic information between groups.Patients in the control group received routine care;patients in the observation group received whole-process cluster nursing management of PowerPICC catheters. After the intervention, the number of punctures,one-time puncture placement rate,one-time catheterization success rate, catheter retention time, and the incidence of adverse events(catheter obstruction, mechanical phlebitis,catheter-related bloodstream infection, unplanned extubation)during treatment were compared between the two groups of patients, patient satisfaction scores with nursing services, environmental facilities, hospital comfort at discharge, and overall satisfaction scores. Results The average number of punctures in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the one-time puncture placement rate,one-time catheterization success rate, catheter retention time were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The observation group patients'satisfaction with nursing services, environmental facilities, hospitalization comfort, and overall satisfaction scores were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).During the treatment period, there was no statistically significant in the incidence of adverse events(catheter obstruction, mechanical phlebitis,catheter-related bloodstream infection, unplanned extubation)between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion PowerPICC whole-process cluster nursing management can improve the one-time successful catheterization rate, extend catheter indwelling time and improve patient satisfaction with medical services.
