Objective Online teaching was a teaching model based on remote technology support.It provided learners with strong autonomy and flexibility,can better adapt to the rapidly changing learning needs of modern society,and expanded the boundaries of education.However,there were also some challenges and problems in long-term online teaching.Learners need to have a certain degree of self-discipline and good physical and mental qualities to overcome the difficulties of online learning.In order to ensure the learning engagement and learning status of nursing students and improve the teaching quality of online teaching.This study investigated the current status and influencing factors of nursing students'learning engagement in the context of online teaching,and provided suggestions to solve the problem of nursing learning engagement.Methods In December 2022,1,251 full-time nursing undergraduate students from five public medical schools in Shandong province with a background in online teaching were selected,and an online questionnaire survey was conducted using five scales including learning engagement,academic self-efficacy,generalized anxiety,and Athens insomnia scale.Results The total score of the learning engagement scale was 79.83±23.44 points.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the average score of the academic self-efficacy scale,the average score of the anxiety scale and the reasons for choosing the major(personal intention)were the factors that influenced learning engagement(P<0.05).Conclusion Nursing students'learning engagement level was low in the context of online teaching.Nursing students with a stronger sense of self-efficacy had a higher level of learning investment.Nursing students whose majors were adjusted to a nursing major have a lower level of learning investment.Nursing students who choosed a major based on their personal wishes had a higher level of learning investment.The average anxiety scale score can show negatively predicts learning engagement.Therefore,it was necessary for society,schools and teachers to improve the academic self-efficacy of nursing students from the perspective of their reasons for choosing a major,and reduce their anxiety about untimely feedback on issues related to the online teaching model and insufficient learning content to improve nursing students'learning confidence and classroom participation,and ensure nursing students'learning engagement.
