Effect of free position combined with aromatherapy on the progression of labour and delivery outcome of ffrst-time mothers in natural childbirth
Objective To explore the effects of free position combined with aromatherapy on labour pain, labour duration and outcome of natural labour in primigravid women. Methods 100 cases of primigravid women admitted to the hospital from July 2020 to February 2021 were selected for the study, they were divided into a control group and an observation group of 50 cases each according to the principle of comparable baseline data between groups. The control group was given routine labour observation care, the observation group was given aromatherapy on the basis of routine care. The two groups were compared in terms of pain score, analgesia rate, duration of labour, perineum condition, vaginal bleeding 2 h after delivery, way of delivery, neonatal asphyxia rate and other indicators, and the effect of aromatherapy was evaluated. Results To compare with the control group, the maternal pain score and the rate of using medication for labour analgesia in the observation group, the differences were not statistically signiffcant(P>0.05).The first stage of labour and the total duration of labour in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically signiffcant(P<0.05).The difference of second stage of labour were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The severity of perineal injuries in the observation group was less serious than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically signiffcant(P<0.05).The rate of asphyxiation of neonates, neonatal asphyxia rate, vaginal haemorrhage 2 h after delivery were all lower than that of the control group, and the rate of vaginal delivery were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Free position combined with aromatherapy can reduce the pain of primigravid women, reduce the use of medication for labour analgesia, shorten the duration of labour and promote natural childbirth.
