Factors influencing the function of the affected limb in patients after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer and its relationship with self-image
Objective To explore the influencing factors of affected limb function and the relationship with self-image in patients after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer,to provide a reference basis for promoting the recovery of affected limb function in these patients. Methods 126 breast cancer patients who underwent modified radical mastectomy in Jiangxi Cancer Hospital from August 2020 to August 2022 were selected for the investigation, and the baseline data of the patients and the Body Imsge After Breast Cancer Questionnaire(BIBCQ)in the postoperative period of 3 d to 7 d were investigated. The patients were given routine rehabilitation training interventions for 12 weeks, and after the end of the training, the short form of Chinese version of the disabilities of the Arm,Shoulder and Hand(DASH)was applied to evaluate the recovery of the function of the affected limbs, multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of the function of the affected limbs of the patients after radical mastectomy, and Pearson's correlation was used to analyze the relationship between the function of the affected limbs of the patients and their self-image after radical mastectomy. Results A total of 132 questionnaires were distributed in this study, and 126 valid questionnaires were recovered. The average DASH score of the 126 participating patients after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer was 26.48±4.06 points.Comparison of DASH scores of patients with different education levels and family functions showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The average BIBCQ scale score of 126 patients after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer was 108.74±12.48 points.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the scores of all dimensions of BIBCQ scale were positively correlated with DASH scores in breast cancer patients after modified radical surgery(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that low literacy, poor family function and high BIBCQ scores were the influencing factors in the recovery of affected limb function after modified radical surgery in breast cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The recovery of the affected limb function of patients after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer was poor, and high self-image score, middle school or below literacy level, and poor family function were important factors affecting the recovery of the affected limb function.
