Effects of disaster nursing education courses on disaster preparedness,self-efficacy and psychological resilience in vocational nursing students
Objective To explore the effect of disaster nursing education courses on disaster preparedness,self-efficacy and psychological resilience of higher vocational nursing students was implemented to provide theoretical reference for disaster nursing curriculum development.Methods A total of 131 sophomore nursing students from a higher vocational college in Suzhou from October to December 2022 were divided into an observation group of 65 students and a control group of 66 students based on the principle of comparability of basic information between groups.The observation group used an 8-module systematic theory and situational practice education model to teach disaster nursing education courses,while the control group were taught according to the regular teaching plan.Questionnaire surveys were conducted using the disaster preparedness assessment scale,general self-efficacy scale,and the short version of the psychological resilience scale.Results Before the disaster nursing education course was taught,there was no statistically significant difference in the total disaster preparedness score,disaster preparedness ability,response ability,and post-disaster recovery scores of the two groups of students(P>0.05).After the training,the total score of general disaster preparedness,disaster preparedness ability and post-disaster recovery scores of nursing students in the observation group were higher than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the training,there was no statistically significant difference in the response ability between the two groups of students(P>0.05).Before the disaster nursing education course was taught,there was no statistically significant difference in disaster response self-efficacy and psychological resilience scores between the two groups of students(P>0.05).After the training,the general self-efficacy scores and psychological resilience scores of students in the observation group were higher than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Teaching disaster nursing education courses had a positive impact on disaster preparedness,general self-efficacy and psychological flexibility of higher vocational nursing students.Through psychological support and health education,proactive caring emotions and behaviors were spontaneously generated to help students become qualified for disaster nursing roles in the future to achieve all-round and three-dimensional permeable teaching,cultivate altruistic spirit,and implement nursing care.
