Application of the PRECEDE-PROCEED model in improving the knowledge-attitude/belief-practice of NICU nurses in hospital infection prevention and control
Objective In view of the crucial role of hospital infection prevention and control(sensory control)in the management of neonatal intensive care units(NICU),and because nurses are outposts of sensory control and the current sensory control practice ability of nurses in the clinic is not ideal, this study evaluates the current status of NICU nurse hospital infection prevention and control knowledge and belief factors and impediments based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED model, and implements interventions to improve the sensory control practice ability of NICU nurse. Methods NICU nurses in a Grade Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Jiangsu from February 2021 to February 2022 were selected as the study objects.Based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED model, the current situation and obstacles to nurse infection prevention and control were analyzed.Obstacle factors were classified into predisposing factors, contributing factors and reinforcing factors.Targeted intervention was implemented to compare and analyze nurse infection prevention and control knowledge and belief levels, behavioral performance, hospital infection rate, and case rate before and after intervention. Results After the intervention, the nurse's knowledge score was higher than that before the intervention, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before and after the intervention, the nurse's attitude score was higher, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).However,the score rate of the post-intervention item"There is a certain relationship between nursing work and the occurrence of nosocomial infection"was higher than that before the intervention, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the intervention, the compliance rate of the nurse's sensory control behavior was higher than that before the intervention, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After the intervention, the nosocomial infection rate and case rate were lower than that before the intervention, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of PRECEDE-PROCEED model can accurately identify the obstacles that affect the ability of NICU nurses to practice sensory control.Based on this, the implementation of targeted intervention can effectively improve the knowledge and belief of nurse nosocomial infection prevention and control, enhance the compliance and normativity of the nurses nosocomial infection prevention and control behavior, and is conducive to preventing and reducing nosocomial infection.
