Correlation between delayed medical treatment and fear of disease progression and uncertainty in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis
Objective To understand the current situation of delayed medical treatment in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS),and to analyze the correlation between fear of disease progression and disease uncertainty and delayed medical treatment. Methods 100 patients with CRS who were admitted to hospitals from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected as the survey subjects. The questionnaire was conducted using the general information questionnaire, the medical treatment questionnaire, the Fear of Progressive Disease Simplified Inventory(FoP-Q-SF)and the Disease Uncertainty Inventory(MUIS-A).The correlation between fear of disease progression, disease uncertainty and medical treatment delay was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, the influencing factors of medical treatment delay in CRS patients were analyzed using univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results The average decision time of 100 patients with CRS was 115.35±23.24 d,of which 61 patients were delayed in decision making.100 patients with CRS had a fear of disease progression score of 28.34±4.58 points and a negative uncertainty score of 74.07±9.38 points. The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the time of medical decision-making and the fear of disease progression in CRS patients(P<0.01),and a negtive correlation between the sense of disease uncertainty(P<0.05);there was a positive correlation between the fear of disease progression and the sense of disease uncertainty(P<0.05),Univariate analysis showed that education level, marital status, place of residence, fear of disease progression, and uncertainty of disease had an impact on the time of medical decision-making in CRS patients(P<0.05).The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that after controlling for the interfering effects of factors such as educational level, marital status, place of residence, the fear of disease progression and the uncertainty of the disease were the factors affecting the delay of the patient's medical decision-making time(P<0.05).Conclusion Delayed medical treatment are common in patients with CRS,and the fear of disease progression score and the uncertainty of the disease score are at a moderate level.Delayed medical treatment is negatively correlated with fear of disease progression and uncertainty of the disease. It is suggested that clinicians should pay attention to the fear of disease progression and the level of uncertainty of CRS patients, and further improve the delayed medical treatment of CRS patients.
