Application of health education based on the IMB model in patients undergoing abdominal pedicled flap repair
Objective To explore the application effects of health education based on the IMB model in patients undergoing abdominal pedicled flap repair, aiming to provide guidance for clinical care of such patients. Methods From February 2022 to February 2023,a total of 90 patients undergoing abdominal pedicled flap repair at Liuzhou Worker's Hospital were selected as the study subjects.Following the principle of comparability in basic data between the two groups of patients, they were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group implemented routine nursing care, while the observation group,in addition to routine care, set up an intervention team and developed a health education program based on the IMB model. This program intervened in patients undergoing abdominal pedicled flap repair from three aspects:information intervention, motivation intervention, and behavioral intervention. The intervention lasted for 3 months. At the time of enrollment and at the end of the intervention,Exercise of Self-care Agency Scale(ESCA),Abdominal Pedicled Flap Repair Functional Exercise Compliance Questionnaire,Constant-Murley Shoulder Joint Score Scale,Mayo Elbow Joint Function Score Scale and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)were used to assess self-care ability, functional exercise compliance, and patient prognosis. Results Before intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in ESCA scores, functional exercise compliance scores,Constant-Murley shoulder joint scores,Mayo elbow joint function scores and VAS scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the self-care ability score, functional exercise compliance score,Constant-Murley shoulder joint score, and Mayo elbow joint function score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),but the VAS score was lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The IMB model can provide comprehensive health education content for patients undergoing abdominal pedicled flap repair, including preoperative and postoperative precautions, incision care, medication usage, and other relevant knowledge. This enables patients to better understand the importance and specific steps of postoperative care, enhancing their self-care abilities.Additionally, patients can be guided by professional rehabilitation therapists or doctors to perform functional exercises, and learn correct postures and exercise techniques, thereby improving their functional exercise compliance and promoting their prognosis.
