Systematic review and Meta analysis of pain management knowledge and attitudes among nurses in China
Objective To analyze and evaluate the pain management knowledge and attitudes of nurses in China,so as to comprehensively understand and evaluate the current status of pain management research and the limitations in nursing practice.Methods Systematically searched the databases of PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,China Knowledge Network,Wanfang Database,and Vip Chinese Science and Technology Journal to collect cross-sectional studies on pain management knowledge and attitudes of Chinese nurses.The screening period was from the establishment of the database to June 2023.The quality of the final literature was rigorously evaluated using the quality evaluation criteria of the American Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality(AHRQ),and a comprehensive statistical analysis was performed using Stata 15.1 software.Results 35 articles involving 14,146 nurses were included in the study.11 of the articles are of high quality,and the remaining 24 were of moderate quality.The results showed that the answer rate of the Chinese nurses'pain management knowledge and attitude questionnaire was 46%(95%CI:0.43~0.50).Subgroup analysis showed that the higher the answer rate of the pain management knowledge and attitude questionnaire for nurses with postgraduate degrees or above,who continued to receive pain education after work,and who worked in oncology,the higher the answer rate was 56.70%(95%CI:43.80%~69.70%),58.60%(95%CI:55.00%~62.20%),and 58.90%(95%CI:45.20%~72.70%)respectively.Conclusion There are general shortcomings in the knowledge and attitude of nurses in the field of pain management in China,suggesting that nursing managers urgently need to recognize the importance of pain management in the overall quality of care.It is necessary to formulate continuous professional training and education plans.By providing regular updates to the knowledge of pain management,nurses could improve their cognition and coping ability with pain management,so as to enhance their professional literacy and provide more comprehensive and humanity treatment and care for pain patients,so as to improve the quality of life and treatment effect of pain patients,and thus improve the overall quality of care.
